CIF meets with Canada India parliamentary group in Ottawa

CIF had a very productive lunch meeting in Ottawa, at the Parliamentary Dining Room, with the Canada India Interparliamentary Friendship Group, on Tuesday, October 29.
The following CIF Members went to Ottawa for the meeting: Lucky Lakshmanan (Chair, Laj Prasher (National Convenor), Atul Tolia (Secretary to the Board), recently joined members Ananth Seshan and Rajinder Minhas-Bal, and Kalyan Sundaram (Executive Director). Co-Chairs of the Parliamentary Group, Patrick Brown and Devinder Shory were joined by Parliamentarians who attended were Peter MacKay (Minister of Justice and Attorney General), Chris Alexander (Minister for Citizenship and Immigration), Tim Uppal (Minister of State, Multiculturalism), Bal Gosal (Minister of State, Sport), Deepak Obhrai (Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Members of Parliament Brian Storseth, John Carmichael, Brad Butt, Kyle Seeback, Ed Holder, Kirsty Duncan. CIF-invited guests Pradeep Merchant and Nishith Goel were also present at the meeting. Topics covered during the meeting included : Update on the CEPA/FIPA negotiations with India, follow-up to civil nuclear agreement between Canada and India, Start-up Visa for entrepreneurs with proven innovation and CIF’s upcoming Canada India Infrastructure Forum.
