The 8th Annual CIF Charity Golf tournament was held at the Lionhead Golf Club, 8501 Mississauga Road, Brampton, ON, on August 09th, 2023. The 2023 Charity Golf Tournament organized under the auspices of the CIF Charitable Foundation witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with 292 golfers participating in support of a noble cause. The event, aimed at providing assistance to the families of fallen heroes in Canada and India, has become a cornerstone of our efforts to support military families in need.
Since its inception, the golf tournament has garnered overwhelming support from the community, sponsors, and mainstream Canadians, resulting in nearly $180,000 raised to date.
Highlights from the Tournament
One of the most memorable moments of the day was an extraordinary hole-in-one, a rare feat in golfing. Vishal Uppal clinched the $10,000 prize for achieving this remarkable accomplishment.
Additionally, the first prize in the raffle draw—a coveted 2024 Ford Mustang—was won by Mr. Norton Kothari. In a heartwarming display of generosity, Mr. Kothari immediately donated the car back for auction, where it was purchased for $40,000 by Mr. Rathish Menchery Mony, CEO of Appfabs Incorporation.
Expanding Our Reach
The CIF Charity has extended its support beyond the families of fallen soldiers to include Canadian frontline workers facing challenging circumstances. This expansion reflects our commitment to aiding those who selflessly serve our communities.
Investing in Education
In 2022, CIF established a dedicated scholarship fund to support the education of children from military families. The inaugural scholarship, awarded in 2023, went to Albin Jose, a student from India. Albin shared his poignant story of overcoming adversity following his father’s untimely demise while serving in the Indian army. With CIF’s support, Albin’s dream of studying in Canada became a reality.
