Canada India Interparliamentary Friendship Group joins hands with Canada India Foundation to condemn Mumbai blasts

July 14, 2011, Toronto: The Canada India Interparliamentary Friendship Group (CIIFG) joined hands with Canada India Foundation (CIF) to condemn the bomb blasts that occurred in Mumbai, India on Wednesday.

Conveying his condolences to the families of the victims of the blasts, Patrick Brown, Co-Chair, CIIFG, echoed the statement issued by Prime Minister Stephen Harper stating “Canada remains united with the Government and people of India in their fight against terror”. A frequent visitor to India, including most recently last January, Mr. Brown also expressed hope that the perpetrators of the crime will be identified quickly and brought to justice.

Speaking on behalf of members of Canada India Foundation, Barj Dhahan, Chair, offered his strong support to the Indian people, who he said, have shown remarkable resilience in refusing to let acts of terror divide them. He added that the need of the hour is for all countries to denounce these and similar acts unequivocally and for individuals not to let extremism dictate their actions.
