OTTAWA, Oct. 30 /CNW/ – Following his government’s successful re-election on October 14, 2008, Prime Minister Harper today appointed a new Cabinet.
“We congratulate Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the re-election of his government and welcome the appointment of his new Cabinet,” said Ramesh Chotai, Co-Chair, Canada India Foundation (CIF). “As Indo-Canadians, we look forward to building on the positive relationships established with the Prime Minister and his government over the past two years and will work with them to further the interests of Canada and the Indo-Canadian community.”
“Prime Minister Harper has made excellent decisions in promoting Ministers and Secretaries of State to Cabinet who are responsive, reasonable and accessible,” said Manoj Pundit, CIF Spokesman. “We are especially pleased with the re-appointment of Minister James Flaherty as Finance, and Hon. Diane Ablonczy as Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism, and the new appointments of Hon. Lawrence Cannon as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Stockwell Day as Minister of International Trade, Hon. Jason Kenney to Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, and Hon. Tony Clement as Minister of Industry.”
During the mandate of this government, CIF will continue to work to improve bilateral relations between Canada and India, encourage the participation of Indo-Canadians in public life Canada, and promote public policy that benefit the Indo-Canadian community and the Canada-India relationship.
