An informal reception was held over tea, yesterday at the residence of Laj Prasher, to bid farewell the High Commissioner of India in Canada, Admiral (Retd) Nirmal Verma, who has completed his term and will be departing Canada in a couple of days.
The High Commissioner was presented with a special Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey, with his name in the back, and a book by Canadian author and military journalist, Gwynne Dyer, titled “Canada in the Great Power Game”. The hockey jersey was to highlight the Canadian sponsored Ice-Hockey tournament held annually in Leh, Ladakh (in which Patrick Brown participates regularly), and the book would be of interest to the High Commissioner, who is a military man himself.
