Canada India Infrastructure Forum praised by participants

Canada India Foundation’s 4th Canada India Forum, the Canada India Infrastructure Forum, concluded in Toronto, after 3 days of deliberations and keynote addresses in Ottawa and Toronto, on opportunities in the lucrative Infrastructure Sector between Canada and India.

 

More than 60 speakers, including India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Nirmal Verma, Federal Minister for Multiculturalism, Tim Uppal, Ontario Minister for economic development and Trade, Eric Hoskins, Ontario’s MInister for Infrastructure, Glen Murray, Ontario’s MInister for Community Services, Yasir Naqvi, Britich Columbia’s Minister of International Trade, Teresa Wat, Co-Chair of Canada India Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Patrick Brown MP, Senator Asha Seth, Ontario’s MPP Dipika Damerla and MPP Amrit Mangat and India’s Consul General in Toronto, Akhilesh Mishra, as well Chairman of Aecon, John Beck, CEO of Metrolinx, Bruce McCuaig, VP of Bombardier, Pierre Pyun, Chairman of GMR Foundation, V. Raghunathan, President of Carleton University, Roseann Runte, VP of Eureka Forbes, Raman Venkatesh, Bundeep Rangar, Chair, Indusview, VP of LiUNA, Joseph Mancinelli, Canada’s Chief Free Trade Negotiator with India, Don Stephenson, Prof. at Schulich School, James McKellar and many other prominent experts, were joined by an equal number of participants and CIF Charter members, in an energetic discussion on what can be done to enhance infrastructure opprtunities in Canada and India.

 

As with CIF’s previous Forums, this Forum also came in for high praise from all participants, including High Commissioner Nirmal Verma, who participated in the entire program, more than making up for the inability of representatives in India from Indian government to attend, due to the ongoing election. Many of the delegates, including those who came from India, found the Forum to be of great value and offered to host similar events in collaboration with CIF in India.
